After an eight-day trip from the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland via the Atlantic Ocean with an urgent stop along the way to add additional air conditioning units to maintain a temperature of no more than 72-degree F, the Pegasus Barge carrying the Nancy Grace Roman satellite in its special container.

After the typical “It’s Florida” weather pattern of heavy rains, lightning, humidity topped with no see um’s & mosquitos, the satellite carrier was coupled to a semi rig and escorted to the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility (PHSF).

Engineers will prep the satellite with a top to bottom inspection of all systems and components, and load about 290 gallons of hydrazine fuel before coupling the satellite to a SpaceX Falcon Heavy for launch from SLC 39A in late August or early September.
